Papers, 1861-1885.

A small collection of Civil War papers of Harrison G.O. Weymouth of Lowell, Mass. Weymouth served with the 2nd (briefly) and 19th Mass. Volunteer Infantries and with the 1st Regiment, U.S. Volunteers beginning in April of 1864. The papers include a few official documents, including his commission and discharge from the U.S. Volunteers, an order from A.F. Devereaux for mounted patrols for the 19th Mass. (1861), a letter from Devereaux certifying the bravery of the 19th Mass. for crossing the Rappahannock at Fredericksburg (1877), and a letter from J.E. Johnston regarding the forces at the Battle of Malvern Hill (1885). Additional correspondents include Benjamin Dean and Henry Wilson.
